Test Results

Non-urgent advice: Will I be contacted?

We work with a “no news is good news” approach to test results which means we may not get in touch with you about your results if the clinician decides they are normal or satisfactory.

We will contact you if your results indicate that you require further testing or treatment.

It is the patient’s responsibility to follow up on tests that they are concerned about.

Please note, the GP will only have access to and action test results that they themselves have requested. If you have been seen by another consultant or specialist, they will receive the results and it will be up to the referring consultant or specialist to act on the results of the requested test. Please contact the department to receive those results.

Non-urgent advice: When to contact us

To avoid busier periods, please ring after 14:00 for test results: 01606 42452

To maintain confidentiality, your results will be given only to you, your parent or guardian (if you are under 16 years of age), or an appointed person that has been communicated to us and recorded in your notes.

Non-urgent advice: How to access my results

Patients who have signed up to access their records online will be able to view their health records from the date they sign up, though this can be extended on request. We recommend signing up for the NHS App to access your records online.

The NHS App is a simple and secure way to access a range of NHS services on your smartphone or tablet.
